June 2023 Newsletter

Lawns are showing the effects of the hot and dry start to June, but temperatures will moderate and will probably stay above average through the rest of June and into July. Low pressure systems approaching from the south and west will bring showery outbreaks of much needed rain, some heavy, along with scattered thunderstorms. Over late June and into July nearer average rainfall looks most likely but with temperatures remaining just above normal.

If you are able to water your lawn during prolonged hot/dry spells, a thorough soaking once or twice a week early in the morning is more beneficial than a light sprinkling, as this can cause shallow roots and is more prone to drying out. Avoid watering in the evening as this will increase the risk of Red Thread.
